We don’t have good data on the long-term effects of rest-pause training, since the only study that has been performed did not use training to failure in each set of the control group.

Also, there is a likelihood that there will be central nervous system (CNS) fatigue when training with short rest periods between sets, including the mini-sets of the rest-pause technique. This is why I suggest using long rests between sets so that full recovery is attained.

So the answer is I don’t know how to count stimulating reps in rest-pause training, because we cannot identify how much CNS fatigue is present in each mini set.
