Certainly, it is good technique to avoid dropping the weight and to control the lowering (eccentric) phase. But that's not the advice I am responding to in this article. I am responding to bodybuilders and influencers who are claiming that the lowering phase has either equal or greater hypertrophic potential than the lifting phase, which is physiologically impossible.
