As far as we know, muscle fibers increase in size as a result of training in essentially the same way regardless of how quickly they are encouraged to grow. The easiest way we can see this is by comparing strength training programs using different volumes, because greater volumes generally cause more rapid adaptations. Most of the time (there are one or two exceptions), there are greater strength gains in the higher volume group as well.
